flu

Well we are in day five of the flu. Sam got sick Saturday-confirmed influenza A on Monday. Tried to keep Eli away. Had him stay with Jessica Sunday & my parents Monday. He got sick Tuesday morning. Sam is on the upside. Hopefully he can go back to school tomorrow. Eli is probably out the rest of week. We had a hard time finding Tamiflu. Eli had to get his from 3 different stores. Walgreens won't get more until October. Kingwood is out until November. No vaccine & a short supply of medicine is so scary. Hope everyone else is staying well. I am ready to get out of this house!

The never ending bike wreck........

So Eli started complaining that his tooth hurt last week. This was coming right on the heels of missisng a day of school (& seeing Steve) becase his back hurt. I tried to convince him it was just the loose baby teeth behind it pushing on it that was causing pain. After several tear filled sleepless nights- we went to see Dr. Ledford. After a quick xray he tells us its an abscess. He is now on a round of antibotics & painkillers getting ready for root canal #3 on Wednesday. The long term effects of this bike wreck are exhausting.

Danielle-I am so sorry I missed your party last nite. I hope it went really well. I need a lunch tote. How long is it open for orders?

back to school

Well the boys started back to school today. Eli was just grumpy because he didn't want to go back. It is no longer ok for me to walk him in. As soon as we hit the parking lot he is gone. And then there is Sammy- he couldn't eat dinner last night because he was so nervous (not even the brownies he chose). Then this morning he holds my hand the whole time. I walk him to his class get him settled and cry my way home. One would think by 2nd grade this would be easier. He just looks so small in that big room. I was talking to my mom and when I was his age I was the last to leave the house in the morning and caught the bus alone. What was she thinking?

the braids....

Eli was getting a FUNKY rash on his noggin so it was time for removal of the braids.

3 very long hours later.....

Eli had an Amazing trip. He is still telling me stories of his adventures. It absolutely blows my mind to realize all my 10 year old has seen. These trips really expand his world ( and mind). Thank you sooooo much Nana and Papaw for sharing this with Eli. It truly changes his life.

medical

I have been having alot of lower stomach pain so my dr sent me for a ultrasound last Friday. My left ovary is about twice the size of the right & I have either a hemorrhagic cyst or an endometrioma on the right side. I am going to have laparoscopy on June 19. Hopefully they will be able to figure out what is going on. If it is a cyst they will try to drain it. The ultrasound said it is solid so it could be filled w/ blood . If its endrometrosis then they will burn all they can to give me a clean slate. Then put me on an estrogen free birth control to slow the regrowth. I am extremely nervous over what the mass is . I have been trying since 2005 to find out what is causing my pain. So it is a relief to have an end in sight. Thankfully it is a minimally invasive surgery & he promises to leave all my "parts" in. So Nana we will need some childcare..... Glad you are going to be here!!!

Home

Sam is home and feeling much better today. He is on antibotics for another week. No recess or gym in school. Then another xray @the end of the week. As long as his fever stays below 101 we will hopefully stay out of the doctors for the next few days. Which my wallet really needs! Thanks for the prayers- I'll keep you posted.

Sam

This is turning into my medical alert blog. Sam got sick Monday night. He went to dr. Tuesday thought it was just viral. Temp went to 103.8 Tues. afternoon. Back in on Wednesday- white count 22000( 2-12000 normal) xray showed pneumonia. Got iv fluids & antiobotics@ office. Got worse that night so was admitted to Childrens. Not much better today - probably staying tonight as well. He doesn't have a cough so the pneumonia isn't breaking up. Pray my baby gets better soon. I will try to keep you updated. Jamie is in Canada so it's diffcult to get time @ home to post.

Another Eli update

Of course nothing is simple @ the Johnson house. Eli was still not feeling well. Monday & Tuesday he was still spending his days on the couch. Wednesday(9 days post-op) the surgeon sent us for another xray & worked us in for a visit. We compared that film w/ the one from last Sunday. In a foggy mess of a belly was our answer-Eli was F.O.S.( full of stool). To such an extent his spine was curved from the pressure. So back to the ER we went. After an extremely long couple of hours & an enema the problem was solved. This was highly invasive & violating for the poor child. That evening Eli was TOTALLY back to normal. After 2 weeks of being sick I forgot how hyper my child is!!! Very Thankful all is finally well. Sorry everybodys been sick. Hope you all get well soon . Thanks for your prayers.

Eli Update

Just a quick update on Eli. He got sick Thursday night. I thought it was the same stomach virus Sam and I had so I didn't worry too much. By Saturday night Jamie had to carry him to bed because his cramps were so bad. He looked @ me with tears & said PLEASE make this go away. So I called the doctor Sunday morning & took him in. She said this is not good, go to the ER. So off we went- after 7 hours (and some much needed IV fluids & morphine) we were admitted for an appedctomy Monday morning. The surgery went well- minor reaction to the anthesia. We were released that night. He is still in pain today but moving around better - thanks to pain pills. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. Hope everyone is doing well.
